Even though November is nearly over, there is still no sign of winter in Karachi. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another hot day for the port city today, with bright sunshine expected throughout the day.
Current temperatures are at 23°C, with a predicted low of 18-20°C and a high of 33°C. Winds are blowing from the northeast at 6 kilometers per hour, and humidity levels are high at 84%.
However, the pleasant weather is overshadowed by concerning air quality. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), Karachi ranks second among Pakistan’s most polluted cities and sixth globally. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels have reached 184, which poses a significant health risk.
Gulshan-e-Iqbal has emerged as the most polluted area in Karachi, with alarming PM2.5 levels of 273. Shahrah-e-Faisal Road follows closely behind with a PM2.5 reading of 231. Levels of PM2.5 between 100 and 200 are considered harmful to human health. As such, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the harmful effects of air pollution.
