Following the outsourcing of facilities at the Lahore Safari Zoo, the Lahore Zoo has also auctioned several services, including parking and entry ticket management, for a record-breaking 500 million rupees.
The contract was awarded to a private company after a competitive bidding process, with the reserve price set at 320 million rupees. The second-highest bid reached 480 million rupees.
The auction encompassed services such as parking ticket management for Mall Road and Lawrence Road, entry tickets, and facilities like the aquarium, aviary, virtual reality experiences, the walk-through aviary, and the snake house.
Ticket prices for various attractions are as follows:
- Zoo entry: 100 rupees
- Aquarium: 100 rupees
- Snake house: 200 rupees
- Walk-through aviary: 100 rupees
- Mixed reality: 100 rupees
- Virtual reality: 200 rupees
- Zoo holograms: 300 rupees
- Parking fees are charged separately.
Mudassir Hassan clarified that the contractor will oversee the maintenance of machinery and property, as well as the care and feeding of birds in the aviary, reptiles in the snake house, and fish in the aquarium.
However, the zoo administration will retain responsibility for the care, feeding, and medical treatment of other animals and birds. The contractor will deploy its own staff for parking and ticketing, while the zoo’s staff will handle other operational duties.
