A Nigerian woman has set the Guinness world record for making the longest hand-made wig, stretching up to 351.28m (1,152ft 5in).
The hairpiece took her eleven days and two million naira (£2,000, or $2,500). It required 6,250 hair clips, 12 cans of hairspray, 35 jars of hair adhesive, and 1,000 bundles of hair.
“This achievement is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I still cannot believe it,” she said.
Even though she had been making wigs for eight years, she claimed that the work was difficult and that she “felt exhausted” while doing it.
“My family and friends supported me. I kept my concentration since I did not want to disappoint them. The result is the world’s longest handcrafted wig,” she declared.
It was challenging to locate a suitable location to correctly measure and lay out the whole hairpiece. On July 7, she made the decision to lay it out on a roadway that connected the towns of Lagos and Abeokuta.
On Tuesday, Guinness World Records verified the record.
Ms. Williams has put the wig on display in her workplace so that others can see her efforts to break records.
Earlier this year, Hilda Baci caused a sensation in Nigeria when she broke the world record for cooking non-stop. But she was unseated by Irishman Alan Fisher a few weeks ago.
