Netflix to release Sharmeen Obaid's short film "Sitara” in 2020

KARAHI: Director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s animated movie “Sitara: Let Girls Dream” is expected to release on Netflix in 2020.
Movie ‘Sitara’ will be the first Pakistani animated film that would be released on the streaming platform Netflix.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is a producer who is known for her films that highlight the difficulties faced by women in their day-to-day lives. 
Movie ‘Sitara’ is a short movie that tells the story of Pari, a 14-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a pilot. However, her society doesn’t allow her to dream.

It is a silent movie with no dialogues and highlights how burdens of a family and the impact of culture stop girls from realizing their dreams. It premiered in New York.
Movie ‘Sitara’ will be available in over 190 countries while it will be distributed by Netflix USA.
