NDMA issues alert for heavy rain in Karachi

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert forecasting heavy rainfall across Karachi and other parts of the country.

According to the alert, Karachi is expected to receive heavy rainfall starting from the fourth day of Eid. In Sindh, other cities including Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin are likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds on 30 and 31 May.

In Punjab, rainfall is expected in several cities, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, from 28 to 31 May.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and hailstorms have been forecast from 26 to 31 May, affecting areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and surrounding regions.

Meanwhile, in Chitral, a landslide has blocked the Buni Road, causing long queues of vehicles.

Women, men, children, and elderly passengers remain stranded inside vehicles. According to reports, the concerned authorities have not yet begun clearance operations to reopen the road.
