LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar in his message on International Day for Disaster Reduction said that damage in a natural disaster can be reduced by maximum utilisation of modern technology.
He said that the use of advanced technology can reduce the damage from natural disasters.
The chief minister Punjab said that the protection of the public in natural disasters was the main responsibility of the state.
The chief minister added that the present Government has enabled the Disaster Management Authority for the relief of damage caused by natural disasters.
According to Usman Buzdar, the use of advanced technology in terms of disaster management has yielded good results.
The International Day for Disaster Reduction day is being observed today across the globe.
International Day for Disaster Reduction promotes a global culture of risk awareness and disaster reduction by celebrating how people around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters.
This year’s theme is based on one Target of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030: ‘Substantially reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of services through developing resilience by 2030’.
