ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is reported to have decided not to challenge the acquittal of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz granted in Avenfield reference case. MM News has learnt from multiple sources that the decision to this effect was made on the approval of Director General NAB Rawalpindi Farmanullah.
The National Accountability Bureau, it may be recalled, had appointed Farmanullah as DG Rawalpindi NAB in July this year.

MM News had reported on October 1 that NAB might not challenge the IHC verdict in Supreme Court.

Islamabad High Court (IHC), it may be recalled, had acquitted Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retired) Safdar in the Avenfield reference case. Both of them were convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison as well as fine by an Accountability Court. Maryam Nawaz’s father Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was awarded 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of million pounds.

In September this year, two-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani acquitted Maryam Nawaz and Safdar in the same reference.
