After successful negotiations with the government, the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and the Shia Ulema Council have announced the postponement of the Arbaeen march, following a mutual agreement on seven key points.
Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, in a conversation with the media, said that due to the security situation, it is not possible to travel by road. Minister of State Talal Chaudhry stated that the government will arrange discounted air tickets for the pilgrims. The Iraqi government will be contacted for a sixty-day extension of visa validity.
The flight operation to Iraq will begin in two to three days. Students present at the border will be allowed to go to Iran. The government will form a high-level committee for further dialogue.
It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had announced that this year, pilgrims cannot go to Arbaeen via Balochistan, Iran, or Iraq by land, after which Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen had announced a nationwide protest against the ban on land routes for Arbaeen pilgrims.
