CHENNAI: A Muslim couple in Indian Monday got married at the venue of protest against the controversial citizenship law.
According to details, Holding an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) placard, the couple got married at the venue of a protest in Chennai.
The couple, named Sumayya and Shahin Shah, had been taking part in the protests happening against CAA in India and agreed to tie the knot at the venue in Chennai.
It said in a proper event at the venue by the Imam and others later the newlyweds were showered with gifts.
The couple had decided to tie the knot at the same place with elders agreeing to it. The bride donned a bright red saree, while the groom wore maroon kurta shalwar.
Protests against CAA, a controversial law that has made religion a criterion for citizenship, have flared since last December.
Reports quoted many Bollywood celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Anurag Kashyap, Pareeniti Chopra, Swara Bhaskar, Dia Mirza and others have raised their voices against the controversial law that excludes and specifically targets Muslims.
