Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said that Murad Ali Shah would be the party’s candidate for Sindh chief minister.
Talking to media after PPP’s parliamentary party meeting, the former foreign minister said that Murad Ali Shah would be PPP’s candidate for Sindh chief minister slot. He said that Syed Awais Qadir Shah and Anthony Naveed would be PPP’s candidate for Sindh Assembly speaker and deputy speaker offices, respectively.
According to Bilawal, Awais Shah was chosen by the PPP to be the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly. He said that Anthony Naveed would run for the position of deputy speaker.
This development follows the country’s 12th general election, which was held on February 8 amid claims of manipulation and a suspension of cellphone service.
The oath-taking of the newly elected MPAs will take place on Saturday, February 24, in the Sindh Assembly.
According to specifics, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori announced tomorrow’s first Sindh Assembly session after approving the recommendation of Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Maqbool Baqar.
The newly elected representatives of the Sindh Assembly will take oath in the first session of the legislative assembly.
It is pertinent to mention PPP emerged victorious after bagging a record 84 general seats in the Sindh Assembly. With reserved seats for women and minorities, the PPP’s strength in the Sindh Assembly would be over 100 for the first time.
