ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has extended the interim bail filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) senior leader Akram Durrani for 13 days in the multiple corruption cases.
Akram Durrani is currently facing probe in connection with assets beyond known sources of income, illegal recruitment, and allotment of plots reserved for a mosque.
IHC judge Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing in the same case. During the proceeding, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was whether it had also arrested a principal account officer related to the case or not as he was holding all powers in Akram Durrani’s case.
Justice in his remarks stated that the bureaucrats who had all the powers had been protected through the amendment in NAB Ordinance but as it has been updated then an inquiry against them was a must.
According to the NAB, Durrani allegedly allotted plots owned by the DHA Foundation in sectors 1-12 and 1-16 to his near and dear ones and caused losses to the national treasury.
Durrani had served as the federal minister for housing and works during the last Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
