SYDNEY: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Hasnain, who is playing for Sydney Thunder, was accused of ‘chucking’ during Big Bash League (BBL) match against Sydney Sixers.
Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder were playing an important match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) which Sixers won by 60 runs. Sixers’ captain Henriques looked uncomfortable while facing Hasnain’s bouncers.
After Henriques couldn’t play the bouncers, he accused Hasnain of chucking. During the 12th over of Sixers’ innings, Henriques played one towards Hasnain but the latter intended to throwback towards Henriques and the face off started.

Hasnain bowled a bouncer which was called wide by the leg-umpire. Hasnain stared back and while he was going back, Henriques was heard saying “Nice throw, mate”.
On the following delivery, Henriques pinched one for a single and ran towards Hasnain for a bit of chatter. The spat continued during the 16th over as Hasnain came to bowl his last over of the spell. He executed a perfect bouncer on the second ball of the over and Henriques once again uttered “Nice throw, mate”.
According to the ICC rules and regulations, an illegal bowling action is where a player is throwing rather than bowling the ball. This is defined by the ICC as being where the player’s elbow extends by an amount of more than 15 degrees between their arm reaching the horizontal and the ball being released.
Meanwhile, Hasnain was highly economical as he conceded only 22 runs in his four-over spell. Sixers posted 197/5 and restricted Thunder to 137/9. However, Hasnain has been impressive in his BBL stint for Thunder, so far, with seven wickets in five games at an economy rate of 6 runs per over.
