LAHORE: In Punjab province, more than 20,000 cases of sexual abuse have been reported in the last six years while more than 1,200 cases of gang rape were registered.
According to the details, 20,157 women and children were sexually abused in the last six years in Punjab while 1,292 incidents of gang rape were reported.
1,159 cases of child sexual abuse were reported. In 6 years, 41 children were killed after being raped. There were 3,241 incidents of domestic violence across Punjab.
Punjab recorded the highest number of crime incidents in 2019. In 2020, 219 incidents of gang rape were reported. In 2020, 456 children were abused. In the last six years, Punjab Police has completed challans in 75% of cases. Authorities say unreported incidents of rape, gang rape and murder are another.

In a recent rape incident, an 18-year-old girl was raped in Okara when she was traveling in a rickshaw. Police said that the accused were traced and arrested within 12 hours with the assistance of CCTV footage. The case was registered on the complaint of an 18-year-old rape victim girl’s father Muhammad Mushtaque at PS Hujra.
Meanwhile, the girl was subjected to gang rape after she was returning to her home in Okara’s Noor Elahi Basti after finishing her work as a domestic helper in Lahore’s DHA.
