Met Gala, this year’s biggest annual fashion event is around the corner and people are already expecting to see the unexpected on the red carpet. Last month, it was reported that Taylor Swift might not be part of fashion’s biggest night, however, there is a huge star-studded lineup that will gather today.
Met Gala 2024 event will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City Let’s sneak peek into the guest list, tonight’s function theme and what would the guests wear:
Dress Code
The guests who are attending today’s function will follow a dress code of “The Garden of Time,” a nod to JG Ballard’s 1962 tale.
The story details Count Axel, his Countess, and their dwindling garden as an angry mob descends on their peaceful home and nursery of crystalline flowers.
Based on the dystopian tale of the dwindling crystalline garden, celebrities should be motivated by natural elements relating to eternal beauty. Florals, rosettes, and live greenery are just a few embellishments expected to be stitched into designer looks on the red carpet.
Who’s attending the annual fashion event?
As per the Independent, as of now, all four co-chairs, the four hosts including Anna Wintour (VOgue Editor) are expected to attend Met Gala.
Additionally, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Kendall Jenner, Uma Thurman, Sarah Paulson, Cara Delevingne, and Olivia Rodrigo are rumoured to be there, according to a 13 April Page Six report.
Moreover, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Lopez grace the red carpet. As reported by Pinkvilla, a recent report has revealed that Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is preparing to grace the red carpet once more.
Talking about South Korean super pop stars, it is expected that Stray Kids and BLACKPINK will make their debut at fashion’s biggest night.
What will attendees be wearing?
Despite initial predictions, A-listers and attendees hopefully won’t arrive in designer jammies or Disney princess garb.
What will be the theme?
The theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” shouldn’t be taken literally. Guests will abide by a dress code of “The Garden of Time,” referencing JG Ballard’s 1962 story.
