KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that the mercury will reach 42 degrees Celsius in Sindh’s capital today.
The PMD said that citizens should not leave their homes unnecessarily between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Meteorological Department issued a heatwave alert across Karachi and Sindh earlier this week. Winds will blow from the north and northwest in the city during the heatwave.
On Tuesday, the temperature remained 37.7 degrees Celsius in Karachi but due to very low relative humidity, the feel-like temperature was not as higher as the actual one, officials said. The city will be expecting dry conditions during the next three to four days.
Moreover, Karachi Administrator Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has given directives to put all the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation hospitals and 1122 rescue services on alert. All relevant officials and staffers have been asked to remain on duty round the clock.
