GENEVA: Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari has discussed the issue of child abuse with the Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves in Switzerland.
Dr. Shireen Mazari is currently on a two-day official visit to Geneva to attend the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Both Shireen Mazari and Damares Alves discussed the issue of child abuse, including child pornography during the meeting.
She also highlighted efforts to establish child protection centres and a national sex offender registry in Pakistan.
She also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts and progress on Human Rights through legislation, implementation of laws and awareness programmes.
Mazari said in a tweet that she also discussed child porn broadcasted on the dark web and her team was trying to deal with it through legislation and awareness programmes.
Mazari last week said that our women have made the nation proud on all fronts. Women peacekeepers might help resolve many controversies confronting UN peacekeepers today, she added.
