LAHORE: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man impersonating as a judge of the Lahore High Court.
Acting on a complaint, the FIA’s anti-corruption cell raided a house in Lahore and apprehended the imposter.
The suspect impersonated as a high court judge and used to pressurise government officers to get illegal favours. The imposter was also responsible for dozens of transfers and postings of government employees.
FIA officials have also recovered a fake CNIC from his possession. The federal agency has registered an FIR and launched investigations against the suspect.
Earlier in March, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities apprehended a fraudster threatening Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) officials while pretending to be an official of the accountability watchdog.
A case was registered against the accused identified as Haroon on the request of Deputy Director NAB at Aabpara police station in Islamabad.
According to the FIR, the accused had pretended himself as an official of NAB’s intelligence wing and threatened OGDCL officials to lodge cases if do not pay him a significant amount.
