LAHORE: Pakistani actress Ushna Shah has come forward in support of LUMS students after cases were registered against them and the hotel owner following a viral video of a dance party in Malam Jabba.
A viral video of students dancing in the open air at a musical festival in Swat’s Malam Jabba neighbourhood sprung authorities into action. They arrested the hotel owner and manager on the pretext of promoting ‘vulgarity’ and ‘obscenity’.
Taking to Twitter, Ushna Shah wrote, “LUMS students know how to throw a great party! The snow capped peaks as backdrop were mesmerizing. A bunch of kids dancing and having a good time are a threat to Pakistan.”

While both the owner and manager have been charged with violating Coronavirus SOPs, using loudspeakers, and promoting vulgarity and obscenity, around 40 unidentified university students have been nominated in the FIR as well.
The unidentified suspects have been booked under Section 294 (annoying others by singing, dancing, or uttering obscene songs) of the Pakistan Penal Code. They have also been charged with Section 3 and 4 of the West Pakistan Regulation and Control of Loud Speakers and Sound Amplifiers Ordinance, 1965.
It is pertinent to mention here that the hotel owner and manager were released earlier after submitting bail bonds of Rs. 40,000 each. As visuals of the dance party went viral, netizens heavily criticised the authorities concerned for deeming the event.
