Nobel Peace Prize laureate and education activist Malala Yousafzai has announced the launch of a prestigious, fully funded scholarship for Pakistani women at the University of Oxford.
The initiative, part of the Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP), is designed to empower talented women from Pakistan to pursue master’s or doctoral degrees at one of the world’s leading academic institutions.
The scholarship aims to bridge the gap for those who have the academic merit but lack the financial means to study abroad.
Speaking on the launch, Malala reflected on her own time as a student at Oxford, where she graduated from Lady Margaret Hall in 2020.
“I felt a strong responsibility to support young women in Pakistan who, like me, had faced barriers to schooling but still dreamed of continuing their education,” she stated. “I never wanted my journey to be the only one; I want to see thousands of girls following this path.”
The scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees and living expenses, ensuring that scholars can focus entirely on their research and leadership development.
