ISLAMABAD: Educationalists have expressed deep concern over the extension in lockdown, saying that it will further affect the academics activities in the country.
Talking to M.M News, educationalist Muhammad Shahid Ali has said that closure of educational institutions had not only put jobs of thousands of employees at stake but students’ future also seemed bleak in the prevailing situation.
He said that owners of educational institutions had already promised to run their institutions in shifts with attendance of minimum number of students to ensure implementation of SOP for containing Covid-19 pandemic.
The educationalist further said that university students were aware of the sensitivity of the situation and would definitely take care of themselves. “We cannot afford another closure of educational institutions,” he added.
“The COVID-19 crisis has exposed the many inadequacies in our education systems – from access to the broadband and computers needed for online education, and the supportive environments needed to focus on learning, up to the misalignment between resources and needs,” he remarked.
Earlier, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) recommended early and extended winter vacations for students amid a rise in the Covid-19 positivity ratio at educational institutions.
