LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday granted protective bail to former CM Punjab Parvez Elahi in a terrorism case.
Justice Asjad Javed Ghural heard the bail plea of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.
The case was filed in the Ghalib Market police station by the anti-corruption department after a midnight raid on Elahi’s residence in Lahore. He was booked under terrorism and other charges.
During the course of proceedings today, Elahi’s lawyer argued that cases were being filed against his client on a daily basis and requested protective bail in the terrorism case earlier in the day. The petition also made the Punjab government, anti-corruption department, Ghalib Market police station, and others parties to the plea.
The court granted Elahi protective bail and directed him to approach the court concerned. The plea also requested the court to bar the police from arresting and harassing Elahi.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Lahore High Court, Elahi blamed caretaker Mohsin Naqvi for the harassment he has faced.
