LHC adjourns hearing of Maryam Nawaz’s bail plea till Oct 29

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned hearing of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s bail plea in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case till Tuesday.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has submitted its reply over the bail petition Maryam Nawaz in LHC.

A division bench of the LHC heard the bail petition of Maryam, who has been in jail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

Maryam Nawaz had been in jail on judicial remand after completion of her physical remand. The NAB completed its questioning over the case.

The bench said that the court would further proceed over the matter after reading the reply submitted by the NAB. The bench adjourned the hearing till Tuesday (tomorrow).

Maryam Nawaz in her petition had requested the high court for her release on bail referring serious illness of her father and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The bench in the initial hearing of the petition had issued a notice to the NAB for its reply.

On 24th October, Maryam Nawaz was admitted to Services Hospital due to her condition deteriorated.

Maryam and her cousin Yousaf Abbas were arrested by NAB on 8th August. Later, on 26th September, they were sent to jail on judicial remand.

NAB suspects Maryam of involvement in money laundering through investments of variable heavy amounts being the main shareholder of the Mills case.

It has alleged that she was involved in money laundering with the help of some foreigners during the period of 1992-93 when her father Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister.
