A Lahore man has been arrested for allegedly staging his own kidnapping and demanding Rs. 1.5 million in ransom from his in-laws.
According to the spokesperson for the Lahore DIG Operations, a man named Taimur, a resident of Manawan, sent his wife videos showing himself tied up with ropes and also conveyed a ransom demand of Rs. 1.5 million allegedly made by kidnappers.
Officials said that, following a complaint filed by the woman, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
The man who had staged the kidnapping was subsequently arrested in Faisalabad.

During the initial investigation, the suspect revealed that he wanted to obtain money from his in-laws and had therefore fabricated the kidnapping.
According to officials, the suspect has been handed over to the Investigation Wing for further investigation and legal proceedings.
