The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has taken a forward-thinking measure by announcing free Wi-Fi accessibility in public parks throughout Peshawar. This decision underscores the significance of connectivity and digital inclusion in today’s technology-driven age, enriching the overall experience for park-goers.
The announcement came following a meeting led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, which focused on urban maintenance and recreational projects.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed relevant authorities to finalize plans for the complimentary Wi-Fi service, pending approval from the provincial government. He also hinted at the possibility of extending the service to other cities in the future.
In addition to the Wi-Fi initiative, the meeting also greenlit the launch of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service along Nasir Bagh Road, anticipated to notably enhance citizen travel experiences.
Emphasizing the importance of sustainable solutions, the Chief Minister advocated for initiatives like transitioning street lights to solar power and constructing underpasses instead of overhead bridges. He also called for immediate road construction and repair efforts, particularly along the BRT Corridor on University Road.
To further enhance the city’s aesthetics, discussions included the installation of artificial plants and embellishing walls and bridges with cultural motifs. The Chief Minister appealed for collaboration from private organizations in these endeavors, reflecting a unified approach to city development.
