The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the country’s foremost state-owned exploration and production (E&P) entity, has uncovered hydrocarbon reservoirs at the Togh-02 well, situated in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This revelation was disclosed by the company in its announcement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.
“In acknowledgment of divine providence, OGDCL, as the operator of the Kohat Exploration License, governed under the Pakistan Petroleum & Exploration Rules, 2001, in the Kohat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has encountered hydrocarbons within the exploratory segment of the Togh-02 (Slant) well in the Lumshiwal-II Formation, on a sole risk basis between OGDCL (75%) and Saif Energy Limited (SEL) (25%),” stated the announcement.
“The drilling commenced on August 28, 2023, and reached its total depth at 2,600 meters measured depth (MD). Following the interpretation of wireline logs, the Cased Hole Drill Stem Test (CHDST-01) was conducted in the Lumshiwal-II Formation.
“The well demonstrated a flow rate of 2.842 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas and 28 barrels per day of condensate (bpdc), with a wellhead flowing pressure of 540 pounds per square inch (PSI) at a 32/64” choke size,” the announcement added.
OGDCL further highlighted that this recent discovery of gas and condensate has expanded the hydrocarbon prospectivity in the Togh structure, potentially opening up new avenues.
Previously, OGDCL had also made significant gas and oil discoveries in the Khairpur district of Sindh.
