PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan has ordered the concerned authorities to provide rescue ambulances to all the district level prisons in the province.
While chairing a meeting on prisons’ department the Chief Minister also instructed the authorities of prisons’ department to identify land for the jail on such a location which was equally accessible to all the districts.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Home, Secretary Finance, Inspector General of Prisons and other concerned officials. He further ordered the concerned authorities for necessary arrangements to have clean and neat kitchens and washrooms in all the jails for facilitating prisoners.
The meeting members were briefed about various reforms being introduced in prisons and the progress made so far on the proposed project of setting up a divisional level jail at Malakand Division.
They were informed that the master plan for the proposed jail has been completed keeping in view the future requirements.
The chair directed the relevant quarters to identify a suitable piece of land for the purpose and submit a final proposal within two weeks, further directing them to complete all the necessary arrangements to start work on the project from the advent of next financial year.
Earlier, Mahmood Khan had said that all-out resources will be utilized to make Peshawar an advanced and developed city. Presiding over a meeting in Peshawar, the chief minister said that the provincial government was committed to transforming the provincial capital on modern lines.
He said a comprehensive plan had been evolved for this purpose. The chief minister said seven new heritage trails will be constructed in the city to attract more foreign tourists. A practicable traffic management plan has also been constituted for a lasting solution to traffic problems in the city, he added.
