RAWALPINDI: A minor girl, who was kidnapped from outside her house in Rawalpindi, was finally reunited with her parents after 15 months.
The minor girl, Taj Mina Bibi, was kidnapped in March 2022 when she was three years old, from outside her home in Ratta Amral area of Rawalpindi. Her father Ajab Khan, who is a labourer, registered a complaint and an investigation was launched.
The minor girl was finally recovered from a couple in Lahore. The recovery came after a family who were the neighbourers of the alleged kidnappers observed that she did not resemble the other four children of the couple.
The family lodged a complained to Manawa police in Lahore a week after she was kidnapped and taken there. Police recovered the girl and handed her over to the Child Protection Bureau (CPB) instead of investigating the couple and taking legal action against them.
The kidnapping case was reopened on the directives of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi after which police started restarted the investigation. Police contacted the CPB and Lahore police and traced the couple who confessed to kidnapping the minor girl.
Police contacted the girl’s parents and conducted DNA tests on the directives of the court. The girl was eventually handed finally handed over to her parents.
Speaking to a media outlet, the minor girl’s father Ajab Khan said the family was overjoyed over the recovery of their daughter and relatives have come to congratulate them.
He said that he saw daughter for the first time since her kidnapping when he was called for a DNA test in Lahore. He said that his daughter recognized him and screamed in excitement on seeing him. He said his daughter insisted on going with her mother when they met her two weeks ago.
The girl’s father said he searched for his daughter in Lahore, Faisalabad, and even Karachi with the help of police but hopes of finding her started to fade. He expressed gratitude to Allah on being able to find his daughter. He said the Lahore police did not contact him after recovering the minor girl from the accused’s house nor were the kidnappers detained.
