KARACHI: A man on Friday committed suicide after shooting his mother and a domestic helper at a home near Karachi’s Superhighway area.
According to sources, the incident occurred at a residence in Bahria Town Block-8 near Superhighway. The man opened fire on his mother and later fired at a domestic helper who tried to save the lady, sources added.
Police said that the accused was suffering from mental issues. They have recovered the weapon from the scene and have started an investigation into the matter. Police confirmed both the woman and helper died on the spot, adding that the accused later shooting him and suffered severe bullet injuries. He succumbed to injuries while being shifted to abbasi Shaheed Hospital, police added.
The bodies have been also shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities. Earlier, a husband shot dead his wife and a man he suspected of having affairs with her in Ratowal village near Fateh Jang.
According to sources, a man Sufiyan had suspected that his 30-year-old wife, Shahniza, had illicit relations with Noman Chachar. He first shot dead his wife and then killed Noman before fleeing.
After receiving the information, the area police went to the site of the incident and found the bodies in a pool of blood inside the house. Police said that the bodies were taken to the nearby hospital where doctors conducted a post-mortem examination.
A police official said, “We have registered a case [under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code] against Sufiyan. Police arrested him as he fled [the site of the incident] along with the weapon after committing the crime, he added.
