Electricity prices in Karachi are expected to decrease by Rs6.62 per unit as part of a fuel cost adjustment.
K-Electric, the city’s power utility, has submitted a petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) requesting approval to refund Rs6.62 per unit to consumers under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for February 2025. The hearing on this petition is scheduled for April 16.
Earlier, Nepra directed K-Electric to refund Rs3.02 per unit for January’s FCA, which will be reflected in April’s electricity bills.
The proposed adjustment for February, if approved, would result in a total relief of Rs6.662 billion for K-Electric consumers, to be refunded in May 2025 bills.

This latest request marks another potential reprieve for Karachi residents, who have experienced fluctuating electricity prices in recent months due to changing fuel costs. The adjustment follows a standard mechanism for monthly revisions of power tariffs based on variations in fuel and generation expenses.
