At Cannes Film Festival, the Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, has worn a t-shirt imprinted with the names of nearly 5,000 children who were killed in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli genocide.
Assange is at the Cannes Festival to promote the documentary “The Six Billion Dollar Man” by American filmmaker Eugene Jarecki, who said he was trying to present a new image of the Australian and his “heroic qualities”.
The WikiLeaks founder, who was released from a high-security British prison last June, made a powerful statement by wearing a T-shirt printed with the names of 4,986 Palestinian children under the age of five who have tragically lost their lives since the Israeli onslaught began in 2023, drawing global attention to the devastating human cost of the ongoing war.

Earlier, French actress Juliette Binoches, while addressing crisis in Gaza, said war, misery, climate change, primitive misogyny are the demons of our barbarities that leave us no outlet.
Cannes Film Festival has historically been used by celebrities to make powerful statements. Last year, Cate Blanchet wore dress resembling Palestinian flag to pay homage to Gaza.
