Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday expressed sorrow over the crash of an Air India flight in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Dar said: “Saddened at the crash of Air India flight in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.”
“Condolences over the loss of precious lives in this tragic incident. Our sympathies are with the families of the victims in this hour of grief,” he said.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has also offered condolences on Air India crash tragedy. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic crash of AirIndia Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad today,” Asif said.
The defence minister said, “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of all aboard. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.”
Air India Flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers and crew, went down shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad in western India, officials confirmed.
According to preliminary reports, the aircraft was en route to London’s Gatwick Airport when it crashed in a civilian residential area near Ahmedabad Airport. Local authorities have yet to confirm details on casualties or the cause of the accident.
