Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced boycotting the by-elections scheduled to be held on April 21, saying his party will stage countrywide protest.
According to Dunya News, Maulana Fazl, in a video message, announced that the JUIF firmly rejected the outcomes of the February 8 elections and declared their intention to boycott the forthcoming by-elections.
Asserting their commitment to establishing an authentic Islamic welfare and democratic state, the JUIF chief urged workers to seek assistance from Allah and commence their efforts without delay.
Reflecting on the electoral processes of 2018 and 2024, Maulana Fazl condemned what he perceived as the deprivation of people’s voting rights in both instances. Emphasizing the rejection of the recent poll results, he expressed determination to engage with the populace, instill confidence, and mobilize them in defense of their right to vote.
“We refuse to accept the results of the [Feb 8] polls. Our mission is to engage with the people, garner their support, and unite them in the pursuit of their voting rights,” Maulana Fazl affirmed.
He outlined plans for upcoming rallies, including a significant gathering in Pishin on April 25, attended by people from across Balochistan, followed by a rally in Karachi on May 2, and another in Peshawar on May 9, with participation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents. Additionally, he announced intentions to engage with other political parties to foster unity in championing people’s rights.
