LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced candidates for by-elections in Punjab.
Hammad Azhar, the PTI Punjab President, shared on “X” (formerly Twitter) the names of two candidates for National Assembly constituencies and seven for the Punjab Assembly.
Azhar stated that Shehzad Farooq will run as an independent candidate supported by PTI in NA-119, the seat previously held by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Additionally, Sardar Muhammad Hussain Dofra will contest from NA-132 Qusur.
Furthermore, Azhar announced Hakeem Nisar as the PTI-backed candidate for PP-22 Chakwal, Parvaiz Elahi for PP-32 Gujarat, Owais Qasim for PP-54 Narowal, and Aijaz Bhatti for PP-139 Sheikhupura.
He also mentioned Hafiz Zeeshan as the PTI-backed independent candidate for PP-149, Monis Elahi for PP-158 Lahore, and Yousuf Meo for PP-164 Lahore.
Azhar clarified that candidates for the remaining constituencies will be revealed later.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is set to conduct elections for vacant national and provincial assembly seats on April 21.
The ECP has released the schedule for by-elections on vacant assembly seats nationwide. These elections will cover six National Assembly seats, two seats each for the KP and Balochistan assemblies, and 12 vacant seats of the Punjab Assembly.
