ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said on Tuesday Rana Sanaullah that the ongoing dharna (sit-in) by Jamat-e-Islami is a cause of embarrassment and will announce its own end soon.

Speaking on the TV program, the PML-N leader dismissed the Jamaat-e-Islami protest and claimed the public has rejected it. He said the issue on which Jamaat-e-Islami started the protest is the problem of 220 million people.

He alleged that their people spend the morning in the office and the evening in the sit-in. The Jamaat-e-Islami protest has not gained public traction, he claimed.

Rana Sanaullah Claims Public Rejection

Rana Sanaullah claimed that people have rejected the Jamaat-e-Islami sit-in. He said the party is protesting on inflation and petroleum levy, which are national issues.

The comments come as the JI dharna Lahore continues at Mall Road under Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman. The party has announced a new schedule of night sit-ins in Islamabad and a wheel-jam strike on 13 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Rana Sanaullah dharna Remarks Come Amid PPP Talks

On PPP’s reservations, Rana Sanaullah said Bilawal Bhutto had said he would not cooperate until reservations are removed. However, he cooperated in important legislation the very next day.

The PPP reservations will be removed through dialogue, Rana Sanaullah said, confirming that he will contact the PPP leadership.

Two meetings have already been held with their team and another will be held tomorrow. He named Nayyar Bukhari, Sherry Rehman, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Raja Pervez Ashraf as people who understand the matter. He said he will definitely sit with the PPP delegation and remove their reservations.

On Maulana Fazlur Rehman and New Provinces

Regarding JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Rana Sanaullah said he is a man of understanding. He never does politics of corruption. He always arranges matters in a better direction and this is what is expected from him.

On new provinces, the PML-N leader said the majority population of Sindh does not want division. The people do not want to see Karachi separate. It is wrong to say that the PPP is conspiring.

There should be a debate in parliament on new provinces, PM’s adviser said, adding that each step should be taken politically.

He warned that talk shows and speeches on new provinces and administrative units will worsen the matter. “If the matter escalates, Bilawal and Zardari understand what they have to do. If they do not stand with the people, they will lose importance,” he added.
