Former wife of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith is set to marry multi-millionaire financier Cameron O’Reilly after just over a year of dating, The Mail reported on Sunday.
The 52-year-old screenwriter and documentary producer is engaged to O’Reilly, 62, an Irish-Australian investor and son of late media magnate and rugby international Sir Anthony O’Reilly.
The father of four reportedly met Goldsmith through work as an executive producer on several documentaries and films.
The couple splits their time between his home in Switzerland and her West London residence. “They’re very happy together,” a friend said. “They met through work and were friends first. They’ve been a couple for just over a year. He’s very private and Jemima is determined to protect that.”
Family members, including Goldsmith’s brother Robin Birley, owner of London club 5 Hertford Street, are said to have met O’Reilly and “get on very well” with him.
An Oxford graduate, O’Reilly spent a decade at his father’s media empire, Independent News & Media, and later Australia’s APN News & Media, stepping down as CEO in 2000. In 2003 he founded private equity firm Bayard Capital and acquired Swiss metering company Landis+Gyr, serving as CEO until its $2.3 billion sale to Toshiba in 2011.
Friends hope the engagement marks “a settled new chapter” for Goldsmith, citing the couple’s shared interest in documentary-making.
Goldsmith’s credits include producing the 2018 docuseries The Clinton Affair and Emmy-nominated The Case Against Adnan Syed. Her 2022 rom-com screenplay What’s Love Got To Do With It? won multiple awards.
The daughter of late billionaire Sir James Goldsmith, she is currently campaigning for the release of ex-husband Imran Khan from prison in Pakistan. The former cricketer and politician, father to her sons Kasim and Sulaiman, was jailed for corruption in 2023 and received further sentences last December. Khan says the cases are politically motivated, and the UN has ruled his detention “arbitrary” and in violation of international law.
Goldsmith, 21, and Khan, 42, married in 1995 and divorced in 2004, with Khan citing his political career as a barrier to her adapting to life in Pakistan.
She later had high-profile relationships with Hugh Grant and Russell Brand, and has been linked to literary agent Luke Janklow and The Crown writer Peter Morgan.
News of the engagement comes six months after the death of her mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, aged 91, last October.
In March, Goldsmith was fined £1,000 for failing to respond to police letters after a vehicle registered to her was caught speeding in North London. She attributed the delay to major renovations at her £10m Kensington home.
