Masood Khan, former Pakistani ambassador to the United States and former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has stated that after Israel’s attack on Qatar, an impression is emerging that some people are unintentionally, and some deliberately, trying to bury the Palestinian issue.
Speaking to the media in a special interview regarding the tense situation in the Middle East, he said that in the UN General Assembly meeting on Gaza, it was stated that Hamas would have no role in the governance of Gaza. If you eliminate Hamas, the military wing of Palestine, then Palestine will have no defensive capability.
He said that there are Jewish settlements between Gaza and the West Bank. The new plan now is to evacuate Gaza and establish Jewish settlements there. Politically and geographically, it appears that the Palestinian issue and the State of Palestine are being buried.
Diplomat Masood Khan said that Pakistan’s role regarding the Middle East has been commendable, and even U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised it in the context of the Iran-Israel war. Pakistan has demonstrated prudence and wisdom by attempting to resolve the issue through diplomacy.
Regarding Israel’s attack on Qatar, Masood Khan said the important question here is how the U.S. was unaware of this attack, considering that the U.S. and Israel are strategic partners. The intelligence agencies of both countries, namely Mossad and the CIA, keep an eye on each other.
He added that this attack is a warning signal for the Islamic world in general and the Arab world in particular. A new global order is now forming before our eyes. Arab countries were very cautious regarding Gaza and Palestine, ensuring not to go beyond a certain limit because the U.S. was the guarantor of their security. But the situation created by this attack indicates that now there will be no law in this region.
