Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is reported to have been martyred in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran, according to multiple reports and official announcements.
Iranian state media, including Press TV, confirmed Naeini’s death, describing him as having been “martyred in US-Israeli aggression.” The IRGC itself has acknowledged the loss, while Anadolu Agency cited the corps’ confirmation that he lost his life in the latest round of strikes.
Naeini, also spelled Naini, had served as the public face of the IRGC in recent weeks, issuing statements on casualties, missile deployments, and Iran’s readiness for a prolonged conflict. His death underscores the continuing attrition of Iranian leadership figures since the war began on February 28 with massive decapitation strikes targeting senior officials.
While Naeini was not among the most senior commanders, his role as spokesperson made him a visible figure in the IRGC hierarchy. Analysts note that his death, though outside the top tier of leadership losses, remains significant in the broader campaign that has already claimed dozens of high-ranking Iranian officials.
The opening strikes of the war eliminated several of Iran’s most powerful figures, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Pakpour, Armed Forces Chief Abdolrahim Mousavi, Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, and senior adviser Ali Shamkhani. Reports also cite the deaths of Basij Commander Gholamreza Soleimani, intelligence deputy Saleh Asadi, and multiple nuclear and military officials, with estimates suggesting up to 40 senior figures were killed in the initial wave.
Naeini’s death adds to the growing list of IRGC and military officials lost in the conflict, highlighting the sustained pressure on Iran’s command structure as the war enters its fourth week.
