Iran has successfully placed its domestically developed research satellite, Chamran-1, into orbit. The satellite was launched aboard an Iranian-built rocket designed to test hardware and software systems at high altitudes.
Reports indicate that Chamran-1 has started transmitting signals from its orbit, approximately 550 kilometers above Earth. The satellite weighs 60 kilograms. This launch follows Iran’s deployment of three satellites earlier this year in January.
The United States has criticized the satellite launches, viewing them as breaches of United Nations Security Council resolutions. The US and its Western allies have voiced concerns that Iran’s satellite program could be used to enhance its ballistic missile capabilities.
In response to the successful launch, Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Nasser Kanaani expressed satisfaction, stating that the launch was a clear rebuttal to what he described as “unreasonable” and “illogical” restrictions imposed by other nations. Kanaani emphasized that Iran is a ‘rational’, ‘robust’, and constructive nation and called on those imposing sanctions to reconsider their stance and actions.
