Iran has expressed concern over the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and has offered to mediate to resolve the issue, as reported by national media on Sunday.
In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said that Iran is concerned over the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, emphasizing that respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of every country is essential.
The spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Pakistan and Afghanistan should hold immediate talks to reduce tensions, adding that Iran is ready to help ease tensions between neighboring countries.
Before Iran, Saudi Arabia and Qatar had also expressed concern over the Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions and clashes, urging restraint and dialogue to resolve the issue.
It is noteworthy that last night, unprovoked firing was carried out from the Afghan side along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, to which the Pakistan Army gave a strong response. Several Afghan soldiers were killed in the retaliatory action by Pakistani forces.
