We belong to the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) who in regards to the business acquired the “al-Amin,” meaning faithful, trustworthy, and “al-Sadiq,” meaning truthful. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was also known for his honesty throughout the Arab.
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), on the one hand, urged his followers to adopt trade as their profession, and, on the other band, exhorted them to observe truthfulness and honesty in their business transactions. These were the qualities that made him prominent throughout Arab.
We Muslims – who call ourselves the noblest of creatures and the followers of the last Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) – have the most dishonesty. Whenever we observe an event or festival, we (the Muslims) skyrocket the prices of the essential items. Are we really Muslims or are we just labeled Muslims by name?
Inflation was somewhat under control before the lockdown, but as soon as the lockdown imposed across Pakistan, the shopkeepers increased the prices of the edible items in order to gain profits.
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s topmost priority was to make the life of the poor and common men better. Therefore, in view of this situation, the prices of petroleum products have been significantly reduced in order to decrease the rate of inflation. But despite this, the advantage of this reduction couldn’t reach the common men. In this regard, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has taken actions and directed the federal cabinet to extend the benefits of its relief to the common men and make their life easier.
The Muslims are observing the holy month of Ramadan in which inflation is on its peak as compared to normal days. Allah Wasaya who is one of my neighbors and is a deprived person. Wasaya’s financial situation often remains bad and this lockdown has affected him more.
During this distress, rations were distributed in the neighborhood by some organization and the family of Allah Wasaya was pleased to receive it. Because presently inflation is so high that a middle-class person couldn’t afford a peaceful living. The government of Pakistan has so far failed to control inflation but the Prime Minister of Pakistan seems to be making decisions regarding the life of the common man in every one of his meetings. After all, who is the one who is not following the orders of the Prime Minister? Will the administration take any steps to control this artificial inflation or will the poor continue to suffer?
Of course, there will be many deserving people around your neighborhood who are waiting for your charity. We are Muslims and there should be no contradiction in our words and deeds. Well-settled people are requested to spend generously on the poor in this holy month. It doesn’t take long for a king to become poor and a poor person to become king.
