ISLAMABAD: To sabotage the Australian Cricket team’s tour to Pakistan, India again used cheap tactics by sending threatening messages to the Australian player’s family on social media.
Evidence revealed that an Indian named Maradal Tewari, a resident of Gujarat has sent the messages using a fake account on Instagram.
In the messages, a warning was triggered to the cricketer’s family stating that he will not come back alive if he continue with his visit to Pakistan.
The message stated, “This is a warning for your husband. If he comes for tour against Pakistan he won’t come alive. Long live TTP and Taliban.”
“Your children will miss their father. If he comes to Pakistan, our snipers will blow his head,” the messages further threatened.
In September last year, fake news generated by India led to the shock cancellation of New Zealand cricket team’s tour of Pakistan.
New Zealand abruptly abandoned their first tour of Pakistan in 18 years, minutes before the opening the first One-Day International (ODI) in Rawalpindi, citing unspecified security threats.
