India expels diplomats

Editorial by Editorial
June 2, 2020
Pakistan has strongly condemned Indian government’s decision to declare two officials as persona non grata and ordering them to leave India within 24 hours. The move is the latest attempt by India to fan tensions between the two countries and worsen regional peace.
The Foreign Office has strongly reacted and termed the Indian action as being accompanied by a “negative pre-planned and orchestrated media campaign” part of the persistent propaganda against Pakistan. This is not unexpected from a racist government thriving on an anti-Pakistan narrative.
According to the reports, two staff members at the Pakistani High Commission were detained under false and baseless allegations of espionage. The officers were detained, tortured and threatened to accept the false charges until they were released on the intervention of the diplomatic mission.
The harassment and intimidation of Pakistani diplomats in India is not unusual. There have been several incidents in which diplomats and staff members have been followed and subject to enhanced security while their vehicles have been stopped and denied
This is a clear violation of the Vienna Convention and well as diplomatic norms, yet India continues such action in an already agitated atmosphere rather than living within the parameters of international law.
Indian had been continued the repeated and unprovoked ceasefire violations. Furthermore, Pakistani troops have shot two spy drones within just three days that intruded in Azad Kashmir. India is using quadcopters across the LoC for aerial photography of check posts which can then be targeted.
India had committed thousands of breaches of the ceasefire agreement. While being unable to find any evidence, it caught a pigeon claiming it was used to spying and ended up embarrassing itself in front of the world. India is embroiled in various crises and border disputes and is unable to handle the situation.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has urged the UN to prevent military escalation between the two nuclear-armed countries. The UN chief had briefed on the escalating tensions in occupied Kashmir and India’s nefarious attempts to alter the demography of the area. The Modi government has using continues its atrocities in the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.
India should focus on its internal issues or the escalating tensions with China in Ladakh region rather than making baseless allegations against Pakistan as its actions remain exposed.
