NEW DELHI: India approached the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) after Pakistan refused Prime Minister Narendra Modi to access country’s airspace, today on Monday.
According to sources, overflight clearances were granted to India by other countries as per the set guidelines of ICAO.
“Overflight clearances are sought, and granted by other countries as per prescribed ICAO guidelines and India will continue to seek such overflight clearances. Separately, we have taken up the matter of such denial with the relevant international civil aviation body”, added sources.
Earlier on Sunday, Pakistan refused New Delhi’s request to access its airspace. Foreign Office released a statement on the matter and said that the decision was taken to showcase solidarity with Kashmiris in light of recent Indian atrocities in the valley.
