The much anticipated release for the Humane AI Pin is slated for March, as announced by the company on X (Twitter) last Friday. Priority orders are set to be fulfilled first during the initial shipment in March, according to the company’s social media post. Initially, the company had projected an “early 2024” timeline for the launch of this screen-less wearable device, conceived to serve as a smartphone replacement.

Founded by former Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, Humane envisions the smartphone, still a primary product for their former employer, as approaching obsolescence. Chaudhri expressed this perspective in a November press briefing, stating that the previous era had reached a plateau. He sees the AI-powered wearable as a paradigm shift, introducing a fresh mindset and a host of new opportunities.
Priced at $699, the Humane AI Pin distinguishes itself by lacking a conventional screen. Instead, it relies on voice commands and a projector to display relevant information on the user’s hand. The founders highlight the device’s commitment to privacy and contextual intelligence, emphasizing its ability to swiftly discern user needs and connect them to the appropriate AI experiences or services. The company has established partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Tidal, granting users access to powerful AI models and platforms.
Under the hood, the pin runs on a quad-core Snapdragon processor with a dedicated Qualcomm AI Engine powering its Cosmos OS software. It is available in three color options, with two of them incurring an additional $100 cost. Buyers opting for cellular data access will need to pay a monthly fee of $24, as the device operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on T-Mobile’s network.
Humane has disclosed that the remaining orders will be fulfilled in the order they were received, following the initial March shipment. Engadget has reached out to the company for information on the timeline for fulfilling current orders, and this article will be updated accordingly.
For those interested, the Humane AI Pin is currently available for pre-order on Humane’s website. The Eclipse variant (matte black on black) is priced at $699, while the Lunar (polished chrome on white) and Equinox (polished chrome on black) colorways come at a higher cost of $799.
