ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete the inquiry against former president Pervez Musharraf within a month.
Justice Athar Minallah remarked that it is the responsibility of NAB to dispel the impression that only elected representatives are held accountable. Musharraf did not have armed forces but public officeholders.
During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor said that the inquiry was started in 2018 on the order of the court. It will be up to the MLAs to decide whether to take action or not.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that why NAB inquiries have been pending for so many years. “Does it take three years for an MLA from abroad to respond?” he asked. To which, the NAB prosecutor said that many times we are not answered from abroad.

Chief Justice said that NAB is accountable to the people to restore their confidence, how long can the inquiry against Pervez Musharraf be completed? he asked. The NAB prosecutor said that we will submit the report to the court within a month. The court directed the NAB to complete the inquiry within a month and dispose of the case.
