LAHORE: IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has resigned from further work and is likely to be replaced tomorrow.
According to the details, the decision on the name of the new IG Punjab will be made tomorrow. Faisal Shahkar, AD Khawaja, and Inam Ghani emerged as strong candidates for the post of IG Punjab.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had indicated action against the IG on the police action in the assembly, after which IG Punjab Rao Sardar apologized for continuing the work.
It should be noted that Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is the joint candidate of PTI and QL-I for the Chief Ministership, while the ruling political party PML-N is facing difficulties after the by-elections.

PTI leaders had recently said that Hamza Shehbaz as Chief Minister has lost his majority in the Assembly, after which there is no justification for him to assume the chief ministership. The election for the new Chief Minister is taking place today.
The important members of PTI have started reaching the assembly hall for the elections in Punjab Assembly today, while the members of the PML-N will leave at 3:30 pm by four buses.
