Inclement weather conditions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have disrupted flight operations at Dubai International Airport, resulting in a multitude of cancellations and delays, particularly affecting flights to Pakistan.
Dubai airport, renowned as one of the busiest globally, has temporarily halted flight operations, leading to the cancellation of more than 40 flights destined for Pakistan.
Approximately 43 flights bound for Pakistan from Dubai have been affected, stranding numerous passengers.
Specifically, Pakistan International Airline’s (PIA) flights PK-203 from Lahore to Dubai, PK-204 from Dubai to Lahore, and PK-185 from Lahore to Sharjah had to be scrapped.
Similarly, SereneAir’s ER-1723 flight from Lahore to Dubai experienced a delay exceeding 10 hours.
Emirates flight EK-622, originating from Dubai and bound for Lahore, faced a delay of three and a half hours, while the previous night’s EK-623 flight from Lahore to Dubai was delayed by four hours.
Dubai’s extensive highways faced congestion due to flooding, prompting authorities to advise airport passengers to refrain from travel unless absolutely necessary, amidst the aftermath of record rains in the city’s financial hub.
Passengers were cautioned against visiting Dubai airport, known as the world’s busiest for international traffic, unless under urgent circumstances, according to an official statement.
The ongoing challenges include continued flight delays and diversions, with concerted efforts underway to restore operations swiftly, despite the highly adverse conditions, as noted by a spokesperson from Dubai Airports.
