Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program, offering a significant opportunity for residents to secure interest-free loans for housing. The program, set to be inaugurated on August 14, introduces three models of houses and provides a clear pathway for plot owners to access these loans.

Key Details of the Programme:

  1. Application Process:
    • Online Submissions: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will develop a dedicated portal for the program, enabling applicants to submit their loan applications online.
    • Physical Forms: Application forms will also be available at the offices of deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners.
  2. Eligibility:
    • Plot owners with plots of up to 5 marlas are eligible for interest-free loans under this scheme.
  3. Loan Terms:
    • The Chief Minister has directed that no service charges be collected from plot owners. Homeowners will have the option to repay their loans in easy installments over a five-year period.
  4. Additional Features:
    • The model houses under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program include a living room and are designed to accommodate various needs.
    • Toll-free numbers will be introduced for public convenience to address any inquiries related to the program.
  5. Subsidies and Costs:
    • The Punjab government will provide subsidies to help reduce housing costs. Allottees of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) will receive 3- and 5-marla houses in private schemes and will be able to pay in installments.
  6. Coverage:
    • Approximately 70,000 plot owners in both urban and rural areas are expected to benefit from the program.
