A protest against the abduction of some members of the minority Hindu community and increasing incidents of robberies in the province continued in Sindh’s Kashmore on Monday for the fourth consecutive day.
Protests over their abduction, as well as increasing incidents of robberies in Sindh, were also held in several other cities in the province yesterday, with the relatives of the victims demanding their early and safe recovery.
The protesters, including people from all faiths, also demanded an operation by the army and Rangers against the kidnappers and bandits.
The sit-in, in which people of all religions are taking part, was organized to demand the release of the Kashmore Hindu community members who were kidnapped, including Mukhi Jagdish Kumar, Sagar Kumar, Jaideep Kumar, and Dr. Munir Naij.
A shutdown strike and demonstrations were held in Kashmore district. The protesters, including Hindus, members of political parties and citizens said that kidnapping for ransom, highway robberies, shop looting, motorcycle stealing and house robberies in Kashmore and Kandhkot had created panic and fear among them.
They said that trade and business activities had become negligible after the rising lawlessness. They said the migration of Hindu families from Thulh of district Kashmore due to lawlessness was the failure of the Sindh police in maintaining law and order. They also said that Hindu families were migrating from Sindh to India owing to forced conversation of Hindu girls.
