RAWALPINDI: The investigation into Hina Javed murder case has taken a significant turn after Rawalpindi police recorded three different statements from domestic worker Zeeshan, sources said.

Hina was found dead in a bathroom at Askari Apartments in the Lal Kurti area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station. Police arrested Zeeshan and her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, after registering a case on the complaint of Hina’s brother.

According to media reports, Zeeshan initially told investigators that he and Faisal had planned to kill Hina. He later claimed that he had committed the murder alone.

During the regular investigation, however, Zeeshan reportedly gave a third account. He said Faisal called him during a quarrel with Hina and asked him to intervene. The latest statement places him at the scene but assigns a central role to the husband.

Sources said the police are examining the contradictions in Zeeshan’s accounts. Investigators are also comparing his statements with forensic evidence, witness accounts and the post-mortem report.

Domestic worker Zeeshan’s statement

The police investigation indicates that Hina tried to escape during the dispute. Zeeshan and Faisal allegedly caught her when she resisted. The two men then allegedly strangled her, sources said.

Investigators believe the suspects later staged the scene in the bathroom. They allegedly tied a wire around Hina’s neck near the shower and planned to present the incident as a suicide or an attack by unidentified people.

Earlier, the family alleged that Hina had suffered domestic violence before her death. Relatives and friends also appealed for justice on social media.

A post by Shahram Azhar on social media alleged that Hina’s husband and in-laws were responsible and called for action under the hashtag #JusticeForHinaJaved.

The family’s statement urged Punjab Police to investigate every person who may have participated in the killing or helped conceal it. It also demanded the arrest and investigation of Hina’s father-in-law.

Her husband Faisal Asghar remains under investigation.
